"So whether one spent the night with a beast or talked to the wolf, even just listened to that singing bird, rapturous change was inherent, and even the most scary change magnetized. In this way the experience of reading fairy tales echoed the stories themselves, the transformations they contained."

Kate Bernheimer, "This Rapturous Form", Marvels and Tales, 4-1-06,
"You talk about me as if I were another girl.
My story shifted and slaughtered so much I can barely recognize my own face.
As if I were only spun into existence as you the teller created me.
Gossiped over stitching needles, then commandered by ironic men to instruct morals into frivolous lives.
I will give you fragments of this tale, woven from all that is left of memory, because the tale you tell isn't not mine anymore.
It never was."

ABOUT

Rapture is a short film commisioned by Consuming the Arts Theatre Project, for the latest installment of their monthly theatre night, Fractured Fairytales.

Rapture is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, inspired by the original 14th century tale, before Charles Perrault or the Brothers Grimm had got their hands on it, a tale in which no one comes to Little Reds rescue.

Or maybe its just a fleeting dream that a girl called Little Red remembered the next morning.
